V A L E N T I N E S  D A Y <3

Happy V-Day!

Something to fun to think about. Phil means love in greek! Phil comes from ancient Greek word Phileein, which means to love, and so a 'philia' is a special love, affection, attraction or preference for a certain type of thing.

A few words with Phil in them

Phillip- lover of horses

Philotherianism- love of animals

Ophiophilist- snake lover

Philalethist- lover of truth

Thalassophilous-living in or love of the sea

Philomath- love of learning

Sinophile- one who admires China or the chinese

Gynotikolobomassophile- one who nibbles on women's earlobes
(this one just because it's Valentines)

P +

Phil goes to work at 7 and I only saw him for a few minutes for lunch, plus I have evening classes this semester so I didn't get to see him really until 6:30 that night. But I came home to. . . .

Phil's Pink Drink- Grapefruit juice, cranberry, sparkling water, frozen raspberries, and lime slices so yummy

I know I really need to take down the Christmas tree!

Chicken, homemade caesar and croutons (my fav right now), stuffed mushrooms, and Brussels sprouts.
And dinner is never complete at the Beck's house with out horseradish)

Year of the Snake

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

It's the year of the snake!
Although last year, the Year of the Dragon, is a lucky one and I had most wonderful year, this year is The Year of the Snake (to be precise the Water Snake). The 2013 horoscope predicts it will be a good year to begin important detail work. Research and investigation are supported. Chinese tradition says if your family finds a snake in your house it's a good omen and you and your family will not starve (bonus!). This could be taken metaphorically to mean that a Snake could never have a problem with his family starving because he is such a great mediator, making him good at business. Or it could mean that a Snake would be willing to sacrifice his possessions, something the Snake has a lot of, in order to pay for his family’s food. Any way it is interpreted is representative of the Snake’s character and is a measure of the value he puts on his material wealth. The Snake is keen and cunning, quite intelligent and wise.

(Snake in Chinese)
Not only does the chinese zodiac tell you of your fortune and things to beware of, it tells you who you are compatible with.  As a monkey, my chinese zodiac says I am compatible with Rat or a Dragon,  so luckily Phil is a Dragon! However, I'm not compatible with a snake. (So maybe it will not be my best year!)

THE CHINESE ZODIACS

My Favorite Snakes
Piebald Ball Python
These snakes are my all time favorite snakes, the white is caused by a recessive mutation. I think even if you don't like snakes, you have to admit that this is a cool morph.
(Just in case, here is the link to buy one.)

West African Gaboon Viper

These snakes are so cool! For their size they are wider than most snakes. They have such a pretty/unique pattern. However if they were lying in some leaves you would never see them! Another cool thing about these snakes is that they are fast in water!

King Cobra
These are named the "King" for a reason. They can reach up to 18ft in length! The cool thing about these cobras is is that they can stand on 1/3 of their body, which could mean some of them could stand 6ft tall! They are very poisonous, 1/5 ounce of venom can kill 7 people!

Green Anaconda
Obviously, we have all seen a snake movie with an Anaconda in it which makes these snakes a fan favorite. The cool thing is that I found a place to buy anacondas.  You can get green or yellow!

Enjoy these snakes, they are lucky this year!

Since June 29, 2012...

Well.... I got married! I guess it's the thing to do, to get a blog once you are married. Phillip and I have been married for  almost 7 months now and it has been like a honeymoon. Here is what's happened since June.

June 29, 2012
We got married at the Oakland Temple!

Our Families and close friends came to the sealing

We had our reception at the Clement in Monterey

with sassy bridesmaids

Had a Coral and Navy Sea Themed Wedding

With Chinese lion dances, surprise songs, my brothers and friend Romney dancing to Single Ladies before the bouquet toss, and enjoyed seeing our guests dance!
It was a perfect day to start my new journey with Phillip

here is a link a my Short Wedding Video
(I took a lot out because the real one is 18 min long so the editing is bad, sorry!)

HONEYMOON
We spent our first two days in Monterey at the Clement so we could go to a family dinner at my house. Both our families were in town and that rarely happens (Phil's from Maryland). So we went to one of my favorite sea food restaurants near our hotel,  and the Clement makes a Clement Sundae and is my all time favorite dessert.

Cousin Jana and baby Gabe

Phillip and I went to Palm Springs for our honeymoon and it was hott! Literally, it was 112 degrees everyday.

We mostly just hung out around the hotel and went swimming, but we could only stay at the pool for 30 minutes at a time because Phil's fair skin in 112 degree weather doesn't mix well.

 This happened everyday

We got to spend the 4th of July with Grandma

JULY

So crazy enough I never went home with Phillip before we were married so I was so excited for our open house in Maryland.

Our first day was so fun, I loved seeing Phil's home, his old room, his high school football jersey, and it was fun getting to spend time with his family.

Downtown Frederick, MD with Phil's littlest brother Joseph

Phil's favorite

So East Coast

Lots of Corn around

However, I got really sick the first night and I was sick the rest of the week, even during the open house.

I did get to see Kaylan and her family, best cheerleader PG high ever had!

and my cousin Jared came with two of his little boys! I love my cousins kids!

The next week, we went to the annual lake trip with Phil's whole family and I finally was able to enjoy the East Coast.

My new niece Isla

Aunt Sue, Kidder, and Mom

Dad swimming around Deep Creek Lake

It was so nice to stay right next to water

And I got to board the plane early because I have a peanut allergy!
Funny Story: Phil got tomato juice on the plane and feel asleep with it in his hands and spilled it on the lady next to us, so awkward.

JULY 6-7, 2012

So after we came home from Maryland, that night we had Corey's Open house. It had great dessert and egg rolls?

300 egg rolls were a big hit!

The next day we went to the temple for Casey's first time through and I saw a friend there for her first time as well. It was so fun.

August 12-13

So after Corey's Open House we moved all our stuff to Utah and had to find a place to live before Corey's wedding. We eventually found a place called Siena Villas and we love it. Corey's Wedding Week was so fun. We stayed up in Alpine and got to spend time with family and all my cousins have the cutest kids.

CONGRATS TO COREY AND CASEY DONG!

(One of Corey's favorite photos)

So glad that two of Corey's friends could come to town for his wedding, it was so fun seeing them.

With my parents and brother and his Fiancee

Plus Philly wrote me a song!

We all drove down to Phoenix for my cousin James' Wedding.
We stopped in Las Vegas for a night.

Our luggage fell off our car on the way there, so four of us cramed in the middle together

We stayed at the Bellagio, my Mom brings her pillow everywhere

Meet up with Corey's old roommate Tim

When we got to Phoenix we went to dinner with my Dad's Family and went to eat at
Bill Johnson's Big PP!

The next day we woke up at 4 am to catch our flight to
Sacramento for my old roommate Tessa and her husband Grey's wedding!
Tessa couldn't find her marriage license for 2 hours, funny.

It was such a great day!

and Philly ate about 20 jumbo shrimp

We then went home for a few days to celebrate New Years!
New Year's Kiss!

Got some more settlers, I've become obsessed with it

AND NO BETTER WAY TO BRING IN THE NEW YEAR THAN SEEING MY BOY
JUSTIN BIEBER AND CARLY RAE JEPSON!
I wake up at twilight, UR lips my biggest weakness, One less lonely girl, Where you think your going baby?

Your heart is a muscle, swag swag swag on you, Mrs. Bieber, Call me maybe

Funny Story: we went to the wrong arena at first and it was for a MMA fight and all the people there were laughing at us!

We took Isla to the Dinosaur Museum and she kept pointing at everything and saying "Big Dinosaur" and "That's Amazing!"

More and more like Aunt TayTay

and Isla loves her Uncle Philly

MLK Day marks the one year of us technically getting engaged.  Can't believe how much has changed in a year!

So this is our lives so far, Phil is working full time at a pharmaceutical company and I'm going to school still at BYU. We are just happy as clams.
